Frequently Asked Questions – Standard Grab Rails

Grab rails offer stability, balance and support, assisting with transfers in areas where a slip or fall is considered high risk.

  • For cavity walls, the grab rail must be fixed to the internal wall stud or a solid framing structure. This may require the grab rail to be installed on an angle to match the distance between the studs.
  • Brick, timber frame or plaster board will all require different methods of installation.
  • It is recommended that a builder be consulted to ensure that the correct fittings are used for specific types of walls.

The included fixings are suitable for use with solid walls only.

It is the installer’s responsibility to ensure that the correct fixings are used to suit the wall type.

Yes, but we do not recommend installing concealed flange grab rails in an area where it is exposed to UV radiation as this will cause premature degradation of the rubber seals. Exposed flange grab rails do not have rubber seals and can be installed outdoors without any issues. Note that exposure to caustic or corrosive environments may also cause damage to the finish of the grab rail.

We recommend cleaning with a soft cloth and warm soapy water, followed by a rinse with clean water. Do not use abrasive cleaners as this may scratch the surface. Stainless steel cleaners can be used being careful not to expose the rubber seals to the cleaner.
